I just want to thank Serena for just being that girl. Honestly this shoot has brought up so many emotions the fact that this is her farewell shoot is emotional. Also that we shoot this two months exactly to the day before Latisha passed also basically her last big cover shoot. It has been emotional but I am grateful to be apart of this monumental moment. Thank you Serena, Latisha, Gabriella, Luis, Dawn, Ethan, Eunice, Tav, Vogue Magazine and everybody who was apart of this shoot. WE TORE ๐น

I am just going to say being apart of this shoot forever changed my life. First off being optioned to do makeup on one our great athletes in the world was literally a dream. I canโt tell you the feeling I was feeling that day. I remember Latisha and I texting each other so ecstatic that we again got optioned for an American Vogue cover together. Sadly I never would have thought it was going to be our last cover we shared together because Latisha sadly passed away 2 months later. I am so grateful for this beautiful work we created together with @gabriellak_j@luisalbertorodriguezstudio@nailglam we really worked hard this day! Glam really took our time for many reasons that we wanted SERENA to look amazing. We had tension after the shoot but cleared that up quickly. Like I said I am grateful to be apart of a moment so major like this. I want to thank @gabriellak_j for pushing to get Latisha, Dawn and I on this shoot and also doing a great job I love you. @luisalbertorodriguezstudio you took beautiful beautiful photos and you should be proud. @nailglam worked hard on those nails glad we can see them. @iam_thechong you are resilient, amazing, talented and a vision, you are amazing at everything you have done and I am glad I got to share this cover with my soulmate what an amazing woman. You will be greatly missed. You tore the girls and could not even walk this day. I will never forget this day. @serenawilliams you are a star thank you so much for being such a powerhouse and just inspiration for so many black women and femmes. You are an icon. It was an honor watching you growing up, you are so amazing and I love seeing you shine.
The beautiful Serena Williams yโall for @voguemagazine September Issue.

Last week I lost my bestfriend and collaborator Latisha Chong. I am going to be honest it was really hard to write this. First off fuck cancer, I thought I was going to be able to see my girl just live a longer life. Our friendship is deeper than words honestly because people like Latisha needs a book not just a post on Instagram. The endless amount of convos and just love she showed me was just out of this world. She made it her duty to pour light into people she came across. There is nobody like her when it comes to personality, talent and her beauty. She also always went above and beyond for me and I know others as well, not sure how she had the time but she did. Even when she was sick she would come through and not even complain she really wanted to do your hair and make you feel your most beautiful. I am so honored to call her a friend because real friends are really hard to come by. Also when your friend and you have a birthday a day apart (1/23 & 1/24) is really special then I started to realize why she would be like Ra you are my soulmate. I never wanted to claim it because after loosing my other best friend 5 years ago I didnโt want to hold on to that. It is true though Latisha is my soul mate we are really alike in ways that people would never get. I am going to miss so many things about her. What a selfless beautiful person that I got to call my friend. Thank you for all the memories and all that you have done for me a real way. God blessed you with a lot of gifts and you blessed the world in a lot of ways. Thank you for all that you have done. I never thought I would be writing this because I believed you were leaving that hospital. You told me when the disease manifest claim it to be false. I did because I believe in you. Thank you for everything my Angel. I love you so very much. (1.23.90 - 7/19/22) ๐โค๏ธ๐๐พ #IAMTHECHONG
Happy last day of pride month but for me I celebrate pride everyday. You know how important it is to speak about how much visibility means to me as queer black fat alternative woman in the fashion industry. I am existing in a space that I donโt see many people who look like me. Navigating it and being able to do what I do allows other people who look like me to see me and see that I am making it possible to look and be different and still be able to do what what you want to do. Visibility is really important especially when you are growing up to see and relate to people who are like you is very comforting. It also brings a lot of hope and inspiration. I am grateful everyday that I have stayed true to who I am and also get to do what I want to do in this life time and I hope to inspire, be visible and also show people how possible it is to excel at your craft in these spaces.
