#OnThisDay in 1959, New York City Top 40 station WABC banned Bobby Darin‘s “Mack The Knife” in the wake of some stabbing incidents in the city. The song admittedly does contain some graphic lyrics such as: "When the shark bites with his teeth, dear/Scarlet billows start to spread" and "On a sidewalk, blue Sunday mornin’/Lies a body just oozin’ life."
