An issue I am bumping into since I live in England. Although my English is ok, there are of course words I don’t know or I don’t pronounce correctly. As a scientist I am reading a lot of research articles and as a book lover I try to read as many books in their original language as I can. So I know a lot of words but have no idea if I am saying them right. I like to learn and improve but laughing about me or making jokes about my mispronouncing doesn’t help at all. De facto it makes me insecure and makes me feel like an idiot. Just a reminder to those who laugh: English is my second language, every word I am saying to you I know at least in one other language, while you grew up singing in your own language, I always was singing in a foreign language trying to get what they were singing, while you have an accent from the area you grew up (and yes everybody in UK has an accent) my accent represents where I am coming from. I try to speak as precisely correct as I can and trying to pronounce it in British English but believe me it is not easy to live and work in a foreign language. So next time don’t laugh just help me do it right the next time!

There are stirrings in the Mara that the great herds are on their way. Soon the plains in southwestern Kenya will be inundated with a surging shadow made up of millions of wildebeest, urged onwards by an instinct to find the best grazing grounds. The sheer number of animals that take part in this annual spectacle is bewildering, but each one has a role to play in shaping the ecosystem and ensuring the continuation of this ancient trek.

Visiting the beautiful San Telmo Museum, Donostia / San Sebastian, Spain to discuss showing our installation “The Door of No Return” in a major international exhibition opening later this year exploring artists responses to trajectories of exile and the trauma of forced migration curated by Piedad Solans.
“The Door of No Return” references the last portal at Elmina Castle on the coast of Ghana through which captives were forced as they were transported to slavery in the Americas. It was previously shown in “The Past is Never Dead …” @gallery1957, Accra, Ghana from May - July 2021.
@santelmomuseoa STM is the oldest museum in the Basque country. It addresses historic and contemporary Basque culture, arts and history in a European and global context and comprises two adjoining buildings, a C16 former Dominican monastery interconnected with a contemporary building designed by Nieto & Sobejano Arquitectos @nietosobejano in 2011.

Driven by the hope of better grazing, a wildebeest herd charges across a parched grassland. In a tawny tangle of horns and hooves the herd will push on, traversing predator-rich plains and surging across rivers fraught with danger. Their cyclical journey, which begins on the Serengeti savannahs and reaches its turning point in the famed Mara, is the continuation of an ancient natural process. It's a seasonal migration that has played out on these plains for centuries and is an integral element of East Africa's intricate ecosystem.
