This image is from 'Leave and Let Us Go' by @alexandrahowland - combining her own photographs with found images and written testimonies, Alexandra presents a portrait of Iraq, a country often misunderstood and misrepresented. Her aim is to challenge and expand the ways that geopolitical events are communicated. GOST published a book of the project last year and an exhibition of her work will go on display at @copenhagenphotofestival from 2 - 12 June 2022. Further exhibition details are at the link in our bio.

Congratulations to @rafal.milach and Ania Nałęcka-Milach - 'I Am Warning You' published by GOST last year, and the project STRIKE are on the shortlisted for Photo Book of the Year, category of the Grand Press Photo Awards @pressredakcja.
'I Am Warning You'' is a book-quadtych dedicated to three different border walls: American-Mexican (#13767), Hungarian-Serbian-Croatian (I Am Warning You) and the Berlin Wall (Death Strip). Collectively, along with an additional book of connected essays, they present an architectural survey dedicated to propaganda and control whilst also collecting experiences—the memories and scars—of the borderland communities. The project represents various physical structures that are degrading from one book to another—from the heavily fortified American wall to the Hungarian electric fence to the traces and memory imprints of the Berlin Wall.
This photograph was taken in Berlin, in 2019 and shows the remains of the wall at Bernauer Strasse , Berlin wall memorial

"To live in Odesa is to step through the back of the wardrobe into a magical realm that is not without hazard. As I write this, a family member texts from the city that desite the Russian missiles that have been falling or the past three days, in the courtyards of Moldavanka they are still drinking, singing and dancing. Yemchuk's photographs are like that. Look again. You will see something alive that you hadn't seen before: a glimpse of the city's soul."
Thank you to Julian Evans for his review of the forthcoming book 'Odesa' by Yelena Yemchuk @yemchuk in last weekend's @Telegraph Review.
Yelena will be taking part in a special @10x10photobooks salon, alongside Alakanana Nag @alkanag and Rania Matar @raniamatar in New York on the 1 June. You can find out more details and RSVP at the link in our bio.

Stacy's project is a response to the contemporary experience of migration – of shifting continents and mindsets. A multi-layered visual narrative set in a non-locatable landscape, the book reflects upon the loss of roots, and search for belonging in the wake of immigration.
This photograph is from the recent book 'Sin Salida' by @tariqzaidiphoto. In this book, Tariq documents the impacts of the notorious Mara Salvatrucha gang (MS-13) and its rival Barrio 18 gang members on El Salvador. By depicting the gang members, police, prisons, murder sites, funerals, and the government’s war against the gangs, Zaidi illustrates the control the gangs have over the wider Salvadoran society, the violence through which they operate and the grief and loss resulting from the violence. Tariq was interviewed by @publico.pt about his work on this project - you can read the interview at the link in our bio.
