Getting back into the spirit of running again and doing it for the love, not the chore 😄
It’s been a while since Race to the Stones and I feel ready to be enjoying runs again.
After months of solid training, not skipping many runs and ridiculously early starts (so as not to interrupt family time). It’s been a treat to just throw running out of the window and focus on other things. Of course I’ve still run in between, but with no pressure to work to a schedule.
I did had massive “training block” fatigue just before RTTS, and I wanted to make sure mentally I was ready to run. I found any idea of running, along all my training routes, sickening. I’d hit those routes so many times in a 5 month period, that I just wasn’t interested. But after a few “cobweb” blowing runs, that’s now passed! Finally.
As for plans for the rest of the year. I have none. Except for just keeping things simple and less “big” runs.
What I do know though is that “ultras” are now going on the backburner for a while. I’ve really enjoyed doing so many over the past few years, but they take there toll. Not just physically, but mentally. Not to mention disrupting home life.
So for now, it’ll be parkruns - my 250th is incoming 🎉 - and maybe a few low key races 🙌👍
