“I consider myself to be an agent of change, and I have learned that change does not come easy or overnight. Instead, we must actively work to make the world a better, safer place for those who are most vulnerable.” – Ashton Mota, LGBTQ+ rights activist
#wednesdaywisdom We’re all capable of being agents of change! LGBTQ+ rights activist Ashton began locally, starting a gay-straight alliance club at his school. He later became one of the faces of the “Yes on 3” movement, which was started to defend a state law giving people the right to use the bathroom, locker room, or other space designated for the gender with which they identified.
Ashton reminds us that changing the world for the better may seem like a daunting task, but it is possible! Join Roots & Shoots to start making a difference today! LINK IN BIO

@antibrokebarbersclub message :
Most people will tell you that they work so hard to give their kids everything they never had ….
But I’m able to dig deeper than that and understand the pain in someone’s actions on why they do certain things . I have wasted 10 years not of my life but my kids lives looking for validation from Barbers because as a child I was never respected and I developed a complex and had to prove the world wrong to gain respect! My family deserves every second of my time that I took from them and I don’t want any of you making the same mistakes I did

“The mountain top, for me at least, is making positive impact in my community, knowing that I helped to change not only my life but other people’s lives.” – Khalifa, Roots & Shoots alum
#wednesdaywisdom Khalifa’s childhood dream of following in Dr. Jane’s footsteps led her to join the Roots & Shoots National Youth Leadership Council #rsnylc, participating in many community projects—including a favorite, which involved creating art to send to soldiers in Iraq—and even meeting youth leaders in Tanzania! Today she is studying for her Master’s degree at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and hoping to one day use stem cells to treat psychiatric and developmental disorders.
Check out her Roots & Shoots story here and get inspired to start your own! LINK IN BIO
