Just a reminder to those losing their collective shit today, had the dems not rigged the primary in 2016, #BernieSanders would have beaten #DonaldTrump and would have nominated non corporate owned judges to fill the Supreme Court. Second, I suspect that this decision is one that will be publicly blessed by the #republicans, but secretly supported by many establishment #democrats. For those who are blinded by the culture war, remember that most decisions made at the top are done so because of economic considerations. Americans are procreating at lower rates than ever. This fact has long term consequences, including: replenishing our labor force and ensuring that the aging generations’ social security remains solvent, that we have plenty of young people to continue filling our volunteer military, and that our for profit private prisons continue to increase their incarceration rates (and therefore corporate profits) with every passing year. Abortions, access to abortions, etc, are not just about some religious nonsense, they’re about demographics, censuses, and ultimately economics. Get rid of the ease to abort unwanted pregnancies, and you ensure more peasants are born to serve the oligarchy. The framers of the constitution had enough wisdom and foresight to write the amendments in a way that will ensure that our rights will not be dependent on the norms or technologies of the times, and that the rights themselves were translatable in any epoch or era. This couldn’t be more true than for the first and second amendments, especially in a time when those two rights are viciously being attacked by the #neoliberal establishment political class, the oligopolistic big tech companies, their sheep masses, and the oligarchy which controls them all. It’s long overdue we start treating big tech companies such as #meta (#facebook), #twitter, etc, like the public utilities that they have become. Your daily reminder that after the Vietnam war the establishment realized that it’ll be virtually impossible to draft people to fight their illegal and immoral wars, so they decided to create a working poor class who will volunteer to do it. How did they do that you ask? How much time you got? Well they started by gutting public education of trade education which up until that point provided people with practical, marketable skills to find work right out of high school. Then they started a “war on drugs” in order to persecute non violent persons and put them in the for profit criminal justice system. This resulted in countless people being forced to choose between joining the military or doing jail/prison time, not to mention how having a criminal record a lot of the time limited people from getting employed, once again limiting their options. Next the neoliberal agenda assisted in stagnating wages, outsourcing entire industries, gutting labor, in an all blitz against the once thriving working class, resulting in even more people being forced to what began seeming like a really good choice. I mean, when you’re born into a no win economic reality, with no options, unaffordable post secondary education, no health insurance, joining the empire’s war machine doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. You get: health insurance that you never had before, a signing bonus that gives you money you never had, a steady salary that you never had, a GI bill that promises you that education you couldn’t afford, and all you have to do is give several years of your life imposing the foreign policy of your country on other peasants across the world. Doesn’t sound too bad eh?
