We are committed to providing quality and comprehensive training and supervision to support therapy providers in delivering safe, ethical care within MAPS-sponsored study protocols. For the purpose of protecting the safety and welfare of participants, the MAPS Code of Ethics for Psychedelic Psychotherapy outlines ethical principles governing treatment decisions made by providers delivering psychedelic psychotherapy within a MAPS protocol. The Code of Ethics provides the foundation for MAPS’ culture of safety, guiding and informing the practice of therapy within MAPS protocols.
Follow along as we explore the importance of cultivating safety in psychedelic therapy in this new article published in the MAPS Bulletin.

Treating #PTSD With MDMA-Assisted #Therapy
The investigators of MAPS' first Phase 3 trial of MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD observed no serious safety or tolerability issues in the group that received MDMA-assisted therapy. MDMA did not increase the risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors and did not increase cardiovascular risk or abuse potential relative to therapy with placebo. As expected from previous #ClinicalTrials, temporary increases in blood pressure and pulse were observed during MDMA sessions. Adverse events such as muscle tightness, decreased appetite, nausea, sweating, and feeling cold were transient.
The statistically significant results and excellent safety record suggest that MDMA-assisted therapy will be an effective treatment for severe, chronic PTSD.
