Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade, states have been imposing severe restrictions and even bans on abortion. Some are talking about contraception bans, and preventing women from going to other states to receive care.
Congress has failed to act to protect those rights, so today President Biden issued an Executive Order. It safeguards access to contraception and medication abortion, and makes clear that the Federal government will fight to preserve the right to receive care in states where abortion is legal. It also reaffirms and provides guidance on protecting patients private health information.
These actions will be legally challenged. In the meantime, we implore Congress to take strong action to protect women's rights to receive life-changing and sometimes medically-necessary care.
Comprehensive sexual education is critical for youth across the country as it provides age-appropriate health resources, medically accurate information, and boosts confidence. In a post-Roe country, it is more important than ever that girls have access to accurate and inclusive sexual education to feel informed, confident, and safe. #SexEdForAll
July is #SocialWellnessMonth! Take time each day to focus on your current relationships while building #strongsmartbold relationships with yourself and those around you.
58 years ago today, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which addresses racial discrimination in employment, education, voting, segregation, police brutality & freedom of speech. As we commemorate this landmark labor law, we acknowledge Black people are still disproportionately affected by all the above, & we continue to fight to achieve the goals of the Civil Rights Act to the fullest. #GirlsIncAction
