I started @TheConversation because I believe in the power of honest and authentic stories—to help us grow and learn, but also to help us see ourselves and feel acknowledged and celebrated. That’s why representation matters, too… and why it feels right to share this clip from my conversation with @portiaderossi during #PrideMonth.
#HappyPride. Here’s to even more LGBTQ+ stories getting told in the years to come. (Until then, you can watch more from Portia’s episode at the link in bio, in the Conversation Community library!)
Who is wellness for? That’s the title of Fariha Róisín’s new book—and the question we dig into this week on #VSVoices.
Fariha’s book will likely piss a lot of people off because it rightfully calls out appropriation and exclusion in the American wellness industry, and the communities it exploits and leaves behind. But if we really want justice—and wellness—for all, we need to listen to her and call for more than what the self-care industry is selling us. After all: "These are daunting times,” @fariha_roisin tells me, “but they are revolutionary times."

When I was 28, I realized I'd fallen in love with photography and wanted to change the path I was on from being in front of the camera, to behind it.
It was one of my bravest, most pivotal years. I was a young mom raising a kid in LA. I was managing money anxiety and a new career and sobriety. And was about to meet the love of my life #NickValensi (who is in this pic) 💗
I talked to Hayley Swanson from @Bustle about all of it. Link in bio to read more…

One of my favourite sayings is ‘ To thine own self be true ‘. For me that means as long as I feel good about the choices I make on a daily basis, that to the best of my ability I’m living in alignment with my beliefs, values and with integrity. Then I can sleep well at night knowing that no matter what anyone else’s opinion is, the most important opinion is the one I hold about myself. It’s easy to forget that, especially on here in social media land and with all the opinions floating around. What does ‘ To Thine Own Self Be True ‘ mean to you ?
