Two years ago my first article in an ongoing investigation into abuse in the fashion industry was published in the Guardian, revealing the links to powerful men like Donald Trump, Jeffrey Epstein and Adnan Khashoggi. Since then we have been working to get it onto the screen and I am delighted to say it’s finally coming out this Friday!
The three-part series for @skytv (a co-production with @guardian and @wonderhoodstudios) has been an amazing team effort over the past year, with a female-led team including @clarerichardsdirector@chloe_fair_weather@jacquiedenbrow@bexlindfield (and several others not on Instagram)
More details to follow!
Marianne Shine, Courtney Soerensen and Leandra McPartlan-Karol beautifully captured by @choutoo for yesterday's @gdnsaturday investigation. They share their full stories for the first time about working for model agent Jean-Luc Brunel and abuse in the fashion industry. Link in bio.
Thanks to @shinethroughtherapy@cpsoerensen@leandramck and all of those who shared their stories with me.
The latest in my series of investigations into abuse in the fashion industry in today’s @gdnsaturday magazine: I speak to six survivors of model agent and Epstein associate, Jean-Luc Brunel (some who are speaking for the first time) about an industry that facilitated & protected him for far too long. They call out an industry that they say is still complicit in the mistreatment of models. Link in bio.
The series of investigations form the basis of a three-part @skytv documentary out next month, directed by the brilliant @clarerichardsdirector. Marianne Shine (@shinethroughtherapy) pictured here on the front page of the Guardian today, tells her full story for the first time in the Sky series. More on this soon!
Supermodel Karen Elson has been at the top of the fashion industry for decades. Today, on the cover of the @gdnsaturday magazine, she reveals the “toxic truth” behind the modelling world. She speaks ahead of her appearance in our Sky docuseries on abuse in the fashion industry, out next Spring. She tells @jessc_m: “I survived harassment, body shaming and bullying – and I’m one of the lucky ones” and speaks publicly for the first time about accused agency boss, Gerald Marie. “Elson has seen how a toxic blend of international travel, lack of transparency and an unequal power structure can shade modelling into trafficking.”
Such an honour to win a British Press Award for our Noel Clarke investigation last night. It’s thanks of course to all the amazing women and whistleblowers who trusted us to tell this story. 🙏
Thank you @britishgq. It was such a privilege to be profiled in the Heroes issues for our Noel Clarke reporting. ***** Repost: Investigative journalism is a dying art, you say? Not for these two independent truth-seekers... By bringing to light a slew of sexual allegations against former-Bafta winner Noel Clarke, Lucy Osborne and Sirin Kale pulled back the curtain on the dark side of the film industry and gave a voice to the previously silenced victims. Learned today I was nominated for two categories in the British Press Awards with @sirin_kale for our Noel Clarke investigation, on the same day we spoke about the reporting at GQ Heroes. I feel very indebted to the brave women and men who trusted us to tell this story, most of whom don’t get the same recognition. So, thank you!
