Photos by Pete McBride @pedromcbride | Water levels in Lake Powell and across the American West are so low that many predict there may not be enough to turn the hydroelectric turbines this summer below Glen Canyon Dam—shutting off electricity for nearly 6 million and leaving this 726-foot-high (220 m) concrete plug as a reminder of the “dambrian” era. In years when the reservoir was full, it lost the equivalent of Los Angeles’s annual water supply to evaporation.
Meanwhile, as the water drops, the maze of canyons upstream is starting to reveal itself—natural wonders drowned for over 70 years. For more on water and drought, follow @pedromcbride. #water#coloradoriver#conservation#chasingwater#petemcbride
This is why you need to hydrate with proper water and eat natural food
For these reasons it’s why I talk about minerals so much
These are some of the main functions that the different minerals have in your body
1. Zinc - immunity
2. Iodine - thyroid function
3. Selenium - protect against oxidative stress
4. Chloride - digestion and stomach acid
5. Sodium - electrolyte balance and hydration
6. Calcium - bone mineral density
7. Phosphorus - bone mineral density
8. Boron - brain health and inflammation
9. Sulfur - detoxification and antioxidants
10. Manganese - antioxidant defense
11. Chromium - blood sugar and insulin regulation
12. Potassium - blood pressure regulation
13. Iron - tissue oxygenation
14. Magnesium - energy, stress, inflammation and so much more
15. Copper - lipid, glucose and iron metabolism
This only refers to the primary functions of these minerals, and of these minerals have numerous additional effects and roles

The grass is always greener on the other side, right?
But wait, does your lawn really have to be that green anyway?
Americans are obsessed with watering their lawns. Because lots of water keeps it healthy, right?
Actually, overwatering your lawn is not just bad for your lawn, but it’s bad for the environment as well.
Learn how much water is too much for your lawn, and what time of day you should be watering– and how you can ditch the grass altogether and create a food forest instead!

Photos by Pete McBride @pedromcbride | I've spent more than a decade documenting my “backyard” river—the Colorado—trying to make more people aware of how much we collectively ask of this lifeline of the American Southwest. It is one of the most loved and litigated bodies of water in the world, and yet it continues to struggle.
Photos: (1) Author Jon Waterman walks the dry Colorado River Delta; (2) a defunct boat ramp at Glen Canyon Dam in Arizona; (3) the Central Arizona Project carries water 336 miles (541 km) to Phoenix and Tucson; (4) dried tendrils in the Colorado River Delta in Mexico, where the river no longer reaches the sea.
American Rivers named the Colorado River the number one most endangered river in the United States, highlighting the threat climate change and outdated water management pose to 30 federally recognized tribal nations, seven states, and Mexico, and to the drinking water for 40 million people. Also threatened is vital habitat for wildlife, as the Colorado River Basin is home to 30 native fish species—two-thirds of which are threatened or endangered—and more than 400 bird species. CHALLENGING MENSTRUAL TABOOS: This ominous artwork sees a woman walking towards a burning hut, representing a 'chaupadi' hut where women in parts of Nepal are sent to isolate during their period. The fiery image represents an act of defiance against this restrictive practice.

WOMEN’S BODIES AND THE LAND: This artwork shows the connection between menstruation, the land and melting snow on a landscape at the frontline of climate change, implying that what happens to the land will happen to the body of a woman.
