“Are you tired?”
“Why do you ask?”
“You look tired.”
“Are you mad?”
“Why?”
“You look mad?”
I can’t really say that I’ve ever been good at suppressing emotions. Anyone who knows me well enough will say its in the eyes. I am in this stage of realizing just how much my emotions permeate everything that I do including my work.
I go back through seasons and I can tell by looking at photographs, poems, essays, and other works when I was sad, happy, stressed, angry. I do hate that there is not as much work present from the times when I was happy and joyful though.
It is a bit of a shame that art, more often than not, comes from an apparent negative space such as anger, sadness, depression. People need to work through those emotions, but not so much through their joy or happiness. What would art in general be like if it were flipped and people worked through their happiness. I’m not sure if the world would be better, because is meant to be enjoyed rather than a tool to utilize.
I do notice that people seldom ask if you’re happy when you may be visually happy. It’s only when the signs are present that there is something that needs to be worked through.
It’s in the eyes…
