I'm not in great shape. Anyone who saw my few Dog Mountain hike posts knows this well. But this past weekend I succumbed to my son's pressure to accompanying him on a (relatively) short backpacking trip - provided he find a spot that would have some nice photography spots to explore. 🥾

Well, he did a great job. And the weather worked in our favor for the most part too. We got spectacular color in the evening for about 20 minutes over this boggy expansive area of what on the map is just a tiny creek, near where we camped. (And later got clear skies for some nighttime pics - coming soon. 🌌)

This was in more arid, higher altitude eastern Oregon from where we normally explore and reminded me a ton of some area near where I grew up. 🌲 Brought back memories. And soreness. Mostly soreness.

The hike ended up about 1.5 as long as planned because of some back/forth for nighttime shooting. And I felt like dead-man walking the last 2 or 3 miles or so. But overall it was a success.
