Whenever and wherever people are in crisis, there are others who help them.
From the affected people themselves - always first to respond when disaster strikes â to the global community that supports them as they recover, they come together to ease suffering and bring hope.
This #WorldHumanitarianDay, we honour the hundreds of thousands of humanitarian workers, volunteers and crisis-affected people who deliver urgent health care, shelter, food, protection, water and much more!
Because as the saying goes, #ItTakesAVillage to support people in crises ð€ SWIPE and share! â¡ïž
Ume Kalsoom, from Pakistan, is one of our @worldfoodprogramme (WFP) colleagues in South Sudan, overseeing food inspections and managing any issues with the products delivered by WFP to those in need of food assistance.
"It keeps me motivated and energized and I feel Iâm doing something that has a positive impact on communities," says Ume about her job.
Around the world, brave humanitarians like Ume work amidst natural disasters, conflicts and other crises, risking their lives to help others, despite multiple challenges and threats.
#ItTakesAVillage of humanitarians to deliver life-saving assistance every hour of every day - from healthcare workers and psychologists to drivers and emergency responders.
On Friday's #WorldHumanitarianDay, join us in thanking these real-life heroes, and celebrating their courage and dedication.

There is a saying: âIt takes a village to raise a child.â
It also takes a village to support people living through a humanitarian crisis.
This village includes affected people who are always first to respond when disasters strike â neighbours helping neighbours.
It includes a global community pulling together to support them as they recover and rebuild.
And it includes hundreds of thousands of individual humanitarians â volunteers and professionals alike.
