On this day in 1653, Abraham Sharp was born. Sharp was a famous mathematician, instrument maker and astronomer, as well as a friend to Astronomer Royal John Flamsteed and Isaac Newton. Sharp was educated at Bradford Grammar School and, in 1688, caught Flamsteed's eye and entered the Greenwich Royal Observatory. The crater 'Sharp' on the moon (scroll to see!)is named after Abraham. 🌙
