Finally had a chance to go through my monitor screengrabs of the beautiful Babs Cam team (and honary members) standing in from the feature I worked on all of March.
Plus this first photo of us muddy and tired taken by our lovely B cam operator @opiumfire
Thanks to the army of B cam loaders and trainees that got me through to the finish line: @jade_sievewright@ashton_adot@rebeccarichards_@ella_brewin_camera@visualsbycolleen@tomdcull 💙💙💙
And much love for the rest of the crew who made being exhausted and covered in mud lots of fun!

Yesterday @focus24hire hosted us for our first in person camera trainee workshop. Thanks to wonderful collaborator @cinesamara for making it all happen and dreamboat @visualsbycolleen for showing up in so many ways!
@gulliferstravels and the lovely team at Focus24 looked after us so well from demonstrating the lens projector, letting us use the new TLS rehoused Mamiya645 lenses, and serving up an F24 beer! - they are truly great hosts.
Most importantly thanks to the fabulous trainees who attended. They’ve all had a go with v-locks, gold mounts, npfs, and a block battery. They’ve labelled lens boxes, logged kit with photos and a spreadsheet. They’ve had a go at camera reports, set up a 17”, 5” and some teradeks. Next they’re ready to get on set and keep learning so hire them on your next project!
Find them on here or message me / Samara for contact details:

Ten years since Xavi and me first got together as little festival babies. Been growing old and looking after each other ever since, I’ve taken hundreds of photos of him looking too cute, and annoying him recording endless weird videos along the way, I guess I’m slowly gathering material for his biopic ❤️
[ID in alt. Video 1: Xavi trying to kick balloons while sitting in a chair, gives up and camera turns to Eva and and Kelly sat on the sofa laughing. Video 2: Xavi sitting of sofa wearing a knitted mermaid tail.]
Never been into swimming before and especially not in cold water, but become a bit obsessed with the @budeseapool it’s huge and built straight into the cliff filled up by the sea at high tide. Kept open and free to use by a small team of volunteers, who saved the 90 year old pool from being destroyed by the local council. Some v glam elder swimmers there too 💙

1: screenshot of the twp homepage, title reads ‘It’s Personal’ in fancy curly black bold font. There is text about the film, a link to audio description, and a vimeo player where the film is frozen on a thumbnail of Lou & Kyla through an underwater ig filter with snorkel masks and bubbles.
2: A tired and tousled Kyla is sitting up in bed with a refreshed and glowing Lou, each of them proudly displaying their choice of designer plant based milk. Kyla holding ‘Sproud’ and Lou holding ‘Oatly’, both awash with a palette of greys, whites and blacks.
3: In the foreground are Kyla’s legs on a bed, next to them is her laptop, with Lisa Vanderpump midway through an episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion, at the end of the bed Lou, a white woman in their 20s, is exiting the lift looking cheeky wearing a turquoise sequin dress, holding a glass of white wine and a plate of hash browns.
4: On set in her kitchen, Kyla, a mixed heritage woman in her 30s, is in her element. She wears large headphones that are connected to camera equipment and is proudly raised in her power chair behind a camera on a tripod. Either side of her are large white lights on stands.
Can’t quite believe it’s actually out 😭 it’s always super scary sharing something I made, worrying what people will think of it - but this is next level terrifying being in it too, it’s way beyond anything I’ve done before and it still makes me feel super awkward and my chest go tight showing it to people but it’s been an amazing experience to push through that discomfort and do it anyway thanks to @bedroom_activist holding me through that 💕
so here goes:
📺 you can watch It’s Personal: Episode One on FVU Watch (link in bio)
📝 you can read/listen to Rebekah Taussig’s response to the film: The Fluidity of Care - thankyou @sitting_pretty (link also in bio)

[ID: A small figure enters the bottom of a lift from a bird’s eye view. ‘It’s personal’ suddenly appears in 70s serif font and the figure gets closer. ‘EPISODE ONE’ in day-glow pink as the figure is clearer. ‘By Kyla Harris and Lou Macnamara’ flashes in neon pink and the titles disappear, revealing Lou holding a pot of coffee and two mugs. She leaves the lift and the door shuts behind her.]
😬✨ after nine months of working on this with @bedroom_activist our documentary / reality-tv hybrid is coming out on @filmvidumbrella in one week on 25th Feb!!
And we’ve got a fancy new poster thanks to illustrator @angienoviello
