In celebration of Jerry's 80th birthday, the Fender Custom Shop announces the Jerry Garcia Alligator Stratocaster guitar. This master built, bespoke guitar is a meticulously crafted reproduction of Jerry's infamous Alligator Strat, which he and Steve Parish extensively modified. From the hammered brass control plate, to the Josefina hand-wound '55-style single-coil pickups, to the cigarette burns on the headstock, this guitar is remarkable. Fare thee well to Motown legend Lamont Dozier. His timeless song "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)”, co-written with Brian and Eddie Holland, became an anthem for Garcia over the years with at least 449 known performances spanning from Garcia/Saunders to the Jerry Garcia Band. Once Garcia introduced the song in 1972, it never left his rotation and often set the evening’s vibe from the opening notes.
