Today, San Francisco opened its arms to welcome Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. We were honored to host her at City Hall and in the Castro, and to hold discussions on our shared values and to strengthen economic ties.
In honor of today’s flag raising, City Hall will be lit up in orange, the royal color of the Netherlands.

California is experiencing extreme heat waves and we need everyone to do their part this week: continue saving energy to decrease the risk of power outages. Stay safe, cool, and hydrated.
The labor movement continues to advance living wages and create quality jobs. During Labor Day, we recognize all the workers who keep our country moving forward. Thank you @sflabor and SF Building and Construction Trades Council for representing our working class here in San Francisco.
Thank you to the dedicated team of @sfpublicworks workers like Joevani Garcia who is part of the general labor crew -- cleaning and removing trash off the streets across the City -- and Allegra Johnson who is a native San Franciscan and works as a steamer in the Tenderloin.
This is no easy job, but our street cleaning crews are hitting the ground every day, doing their part to improve conditions in our neighborhoods and make San Francisco a cleaner place to live and visit.
Meet Paul Bayangos, Aja Cayetano, and Luciano Adorable, some of our San Francisco Welcome Ambassadors who are here to help you find directions and help you get to where you’re going. They'll show you where to eat, shop, find muni or a cable car—smiling and welcoming you to SF. Welcome Ambassadors are all throughout the city, in major tourist and transit hubs from Union Square, to Fisherman's Wharf, all the way to the SoMa--making these locations more inviting and safer for local residents and visitors.
Next time you see a Welcome Ambassador, make sure to say hi!

Growing up, we didn’t learn about Black inventors in school—many kids still don’t. It's incredible that Rev Dr. Carolyn Ransom-Scott is bringing the untold stories of Black inventors to San Francisco and sharing them with our young readers.
Visit the Black Excellence exhibit at the Potrero Branch Library and learn more about the important contributions made by Black leaders. For more information about this exhibit, visit: @sfpubliclibrary
Tonight, City Hall is lit in Ukraine's colors as they celebrate 31 years of independence. San Francisco continues to stand in support of Ukraine and the safety of their people.
Thank you @sffdpio for your quick work today fighting two fires at the same time — one on McAllister Street and the other between Pier 4 and Muni Pier. Thank you for keeping our city and residents safe!
There's nothing like seeing neighbors, friends, and visitors gathering together to watch live performances, eat great food, and have a good time. The Western Addition Music Festival brings communities together to celebrate San Francisco's rich history between the Fillmore and Japantown, and honors the legacy of what was once known to the world as the Harlem of the West.
