In situ photo and without manipulation of a Bothrops atrox that was perched at almost 2 metres in a tree. We found this viper in the exact same branch for three days in a row, close to a bromeliad in which a couple of tree frogs were calling every night. In the fourth day we couldn’t find the snake or the frogs, both disappeared…

Happy world snake day! Because they deserve the same respect as any other animal. They are really important animals in the ecosystems, but also their venom is used in treatments Against cancer among other diseases. I could be all day giving you reasons why are so beneficial and important, but what I need you to understand today is: whenever you come across a snake, just give it some space and give it alone. They will be really grateful
Here an in situ Black tail rattlesnake that @nick_kanakis@sam_clay_photography and me could photograph last year during a field trip we made around southern states of USA.

Ecuadorian Poison Frog (Ameerega bilinguis) with a pretty big springtail on the eye. This frog is poisonous, belonging to the family Dendrobatidae. The toxicity of the skin comes from the alkaloids of the diet, almost based in ants and in a small percentage beetle larvaes and other insects. The name "bilinguis" comes from the call that has two different pulses.
It can be pretty common in some places and during the last expedition to the Yasuni, I could observe several specimens during the day when they are active and during the night resting on leaves like in this photo.

Happy to announce a new scientific paper published today by some of the greatest scientists nowadays, @josip_skejo and @speedwagon9 , in which I have collaborate. In the photo one of the few photos of a living female of Lophotettix (Corticotettix) alticristatus, I photographed in Ecuador. This paper offers light on the taxonomy of this secretive genus of grasshopper. Link to the paper on my bio. Or just ask me on a DM.

Resting at night this Common blunthead (Imantodes cenchoa) was perched on a tree. I took a few in situ pictures before I continues looking for animals in @elmontesustainablelodge, Mindo.
This species usually preys on anoles, as well as frogs. A common and widely distributed snake that always I like to see on the wild.
Just a reminder of my next tour with @neoselva in November, don’t miss this opportunity of travel with us and take a ton of photos.
