I’m on the list… dean’s list.
Okay honestly this semester was brutal. There were half joking threats to drop out again, last minute switches, independent studies, extensions asked for and only sometimes granted, and red eye flights to make it back for classes in the morning. So I’m taking this space to celebrate. I’m the first in my family to go to college, I withdrew, took time off, did a year online, and like so many other young people have taken an untraditional path. I never regretted the choices I made that lead me here, but watching my peers graduate and knowing I’ll have another year was definitely emotional. So I’ll claim this small celebration on the way.
I want to say a thank you to the advisors and professors who accommodated me and my work. A thank you to my team @fordmodelsdigital (@georgiamakely & @alisonkolb ), @speakoutspeakers, @_leilani_mendez . A thank you to my best friends @juan.amaya and @kwolanne. And a thank you to the @genzgirlgang team for holding it down.
Consider this your reminder that when you see me or anyone else doing 110% it’s because they don’t do it alone. I certainly didn’t.
When @gloriasteinem and @msfoundation name you a woman of vision… you have to take a moment.
Whenever I’m in the headlines or receiving an award, I always feel the heavy weight of exceptionalism set in.
It’s a burden that even (especially?) in moments like this that I refuse.
Instead, I am reminded that I am representative.
Representative of what is possible when we empower people with the reproductive choices they deserve to control their bodies and futures.
Representative of the power of young people not just as the leaders of tomorrow but as the leaders of today.
Representative of the potential of the neighborhood and public housing I grew up in where talent was been distributed equally though were opportunities not.
Representative of the women who made me. Who opened doors ahead of me so I might open them for the girls that come after.
Thank you to everyone, including all of you, who made this possible. ❤️
Let’s be clear. As of today, Abortion is still legal.
People are getting care today. People will and should continue to book their appointments in the days and weeks to come.
Let take action by showing up, donating to abortion funds, and amplifying.

As I bring in my 22nd year of life, I want to celebrate a new chapter by supporting homeless youth in my hometown. @youthontheirown
When I was just 15 years old, I moved out of my home because of issues of substance abuse. I worked early mornings on the weekend and late nights after school at my local gas station for over two years while struggling with hidden homelessness. All the while, I was keeping up my grades in AP classes, organizing for sex education reform and birth control access, and navigating the college application process.
It's hard to believe that was only four years ago. But today, I remind you that I am not exceptional. I am representative. Your future president, youngest campaign staffer, Founder, First Gen Ivy League student could be the same person hustling for minimum wage at the gas station right now. The time between me and this experience grows, and so does my admiration for my younger self. She was so strong. I thank and honor her today by asking each of you to invest in the potential of young folks like her because I wouldn’t be who I am today if my community and Youth On Their Own hadn’t invested in me.
Our donations go directly back to homeless youth who need our support now more than ever. This organization set me up for success through stipends, their food pantry, scholarships, and so much more. They changed my life, literally, and I can think of no better gift than to give back.
