TEAM REGGIE NEWS! Daniel Laurie’s young Call the Midwife co-star Nate Court and his family send a moving message of support for our TV Choice Award Best Actor Nominee!! ❤️❤️❤️
No true Call the Midwife fan can forget that iconic moment at the end of Series 10 when Reggie helped the family of gorgeous new baby Robert, who had Down's syndrome, to adjust to their changing circumstances by taking Robert for a pram ride in Poplar ❤️👶 👏🙌🎉🤩⭐️
So imagine how touched we were to receive a moving message of support from Nate and his family, who urge you all to vote for Daniel in the TV Choice Award vote!!
Here’s what they said:
“We were thrilled to see Danny nominated for Best Actor at this year’s TV Choice Awards, amongst other incredible stars”
“The Court household has been cheering for Daniel (Reggie) for weeks on Nates Instagram, getting the link out to family & friends to vote!”
Nate’s dad Matt adds:
“Aside from being a great actor with some delicate storylines, Daniel is also flying the flag for diversity & inclusion, taking the bar to high levels, breaking boundaries & paving the way for so many families like our own.”
“On a personal note (& we hope Daniel doesn’t mind us sharing this), but to show how lovely Daniel is - he went out of his way last year to go to the toy shop, to send both our boys a little gift at Christmas. A really lovely touch!”
“So PLEASE spare two minutes to vote for Daniel. Seeing his name up there as a nomination for Best Actor is amazing, and we’re cheering him on to take home the award! Whatever the outcome he’s left a huge impression, in so many ways!”

The Radio Times website in the UK has just announced the results of its huge reader poll to find the best TV show of the last quarter century... and Call the Midwife is the clear winner!!
The poll, to mark the RadioTimes.com website's 25th birthday this year, received thousands of public votes for some of the most iconic shows on television in recent years. Yet Call the Midwife stormed to victory!
Series writer and Executive Heidi thomas said:
"All of us on the show are absolutely delighted to hear that RadioTimes.com readers have voted for us. It was just a really lovely surprise."
"When you’ve been going on for as many years as we have, you know you’re not the thrill of the new anymore, so I think it says a lot about our audience's loyalty. But also about the fact that we’re doing something right in keeping the show fresh as we move forward. That in itself, I think, is the most encouraging thing."

NEWS! Call the Midwife’s Zephryn Taitte awarded the Freedom of the City of London for his community theatre work! 🙌 👏🎉
This morning we received the most wonderful news about one of our most cherished actors - Zephryn Taitte, who plays Cyril Robinson. Yesterday Zephryn attended the beautiful and ancient Guildhall in the City of London to receive a most prestigious award – the Freedom of the City of London! ❤️❤️❤️
This high honour was given in recognition of Zephryn’s outstanding community work using drama as a tool for engagement and crime prevention. Zeph isn’t just a brilliant actor and a central part of our drama, but works tirelessly outside of our production to further youth engagement through the creative arts. As Project Director of the organisation Pan Arts (https://www.pan-arts.net) he even mounted community performances in London’s famous court, The Old Bailey.
Here at Call the Midwife we are immensely proud when members of our team employ their talents and character in the service of our wider community, through charity work or creative engagement in good causes. It goes to the heart of what our drama is about: community - kindness - service. This is an award that rightly recognises Zeph’s selflessness and hard work in the service of others, and we simply couldn’t think of a more worthy candidate ❤️
On behalf of everybody at Call the Midwife – CONGRATULATIONS ZEPH! 👏👏👏👏👏
Call the Midwife returns with a new Christmas Special, and Series 12 in 2023 xx
Behind the Scenes on Call the Midwife Series 12: Summer break! ☀️😎🌞
It's that time of year when Call the Midwife takes a short recess in the middle of filming to give our hard working team a well earned rest with their families ❤️
Filming days can be very long, and the hours very inhospitable - and so our production likes to reward our team with a decent break midway through, so that they can return refreshed to complete the series. 🎥 🚲👶🍼📺
So how are we doing? Really, really well! We have already completed Christmas filming, and are well into Series 12! When we return from our summer break, we have the last half of our stories to film, and won't complete that till the early winter. 🥶 Call the Midwife is truly a four seasons job!
In the meantime, we thought we'd share an on-set pic of our young Turner children... looking suitably end-of-term crazy! I swear these kids get cheekier by the month!!!

Cliff is just the type of lovely man you'd want in your kitchen....but would you trust Fred with your flambé? 🔥🚒 😁😁😁
Mind you, if he proves to be as winning chef we could always get him to cook the Nonnatus meal this Christmas...

Behind the scenes on Call the midwife Series 12: Hello sunshine!
Hello all!
Well, what beautiful weather we've been having! ☀️☀️☀️ Our cast and crew have been basking in some unexpectedly fine days of filming for Series 12 - very welcome!
As you know, we regularly feature the changing seasons each year by marking the traditional festivals in our drama. Christmas, Easter, Summer fetes, Autumn fireworks - each one marks another page in the story of our characters through time. ❤️⌛️
This year is no different - and this week has featured a rather lavish outdoor event at Nonnatus House. So imagine how pleased we all were to be greeted by hot sunshine instead of rain!! Like most stalwart Brits, we keep going, whatever the weather - but we admit that being a little hot under the collar is far better for filming than feeling soggy and washed-out ! Stephen McGann, who plays Dr Turner, sent this lovely selfie of himself with young Ned Shaw, who play his son Teddy.
But what are those two Turner boys up to? You'll just have to wait and see!

BREAKING NEWS!! Call the Midwife showrunner Heidi Thomas receives an OBE in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee honours list for services to drama!! 🎉🎉🎉👑 ❤️❤️❤️
As Britain prepares to celebrate the seventieth anniversary of the reign of Her Majesty the Queen this weekend, we have received some wonderful news here at Call the Midwife! Our very own series writer and Executive Producer Heidi Thomas has received an OBE in Her Majesty’s birthday honours! ❤️❤️❤️ Heidi has received this honour for her services to drama.
Heidi says:
“I was so surprised and thrilled to hear I'd be receiving this honour. It's going straight on the mantelpiece in Nonnatus House! It’s an absolute joy to work on Call the Midwife, and telling stories about people whose lives have otherwise gone unnoticed is a privilege. I feel as though the OBE shines a little bit of light on all of them, and that is just lovely.”
On behalf of everybody at Call the Midwife – CONGRATULATIONS HEIDI! xxxxxx
Behind the scenes on the new Call the Midwife Christmas Special: Dr Turner gets back to baby holding! ❤️❤️❤️👶👶👶
The filming of this current festive episode has marked a moving return to business for our cast. The easing of the toughest pandemic restrictions after two long years has meant that our cast are now able to interact more freely once again. This has been a real joy for our team - but none more so than for our own Dr Turner, actor Stephen McGann, who can now return to his favourite on-set hobby: meeting and holding our adorable newborns!!
During the pandemic there have rightly been tough restrictions placed on close contact with our infants, for fear of virus spread. One of the consequences of this was that our cast couldn't work directly with the newborn babies. This was a real challenge for a birth drama like ours, but one we faced, like others, as a medical necessity. For two years we've had to radically change the way we filmed births - and our cast had to adjust technically to the greater distances involved.
So when we finally had our first birth scene to film in this episode, Stephen took the opportunity to meet his first young star in two years - and our Director of Photography Toby Moore sneaked this shot of that moment. ❤️❤️❤️
Want to ask Stephen about this, and about other Call The Midwife matters? Well you can! Stephen will be appearing with leading cast and team at a special live Call the midwife session in the forthcoming BFI/Radio Times TV Festival at London's South Bank next Sunday, May 22nd! The event takes place at 2pm. Go here to find out more and to book your place:
