A new book, A Newport Summer, reveals that life inside Newport's Bellevue Avenue cottages has remained largely unchanged since Edith Wharton’s depiction of its parties and lawn tennis matches in her 1920 historical novel The Age of Innocence; the images capture both the overwhelming privilege but also the incipient decrepitude of old Newport.
