I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the last thing you need when under pressure, is more pressure.
Instead…
What would it feel like to pause?
What would it feel like to fully breathe into it?
What would it feel like to ask it why it’s there?
Whether you pause for 5 seconds, 5 minutes, 5 hours or 5 days, you are worthy of allowing yourself to slow down and create awareness around what it is that you need in these moments.
Pausing to bring about awareness can feel counterproductive, and here’s why.
You might feel a (temporary) sense of safety by using force to push through to keep moving, because this allows you to avoid, suppress or ignore what lies beneath.
You may associate action with doing, but is it possible this is a coping mechanism that you have grown to rely on?
One that allows you to get you through to the next moment where you no longer have to feel discomfort.
A protector that pops up to disguise a deeper unmet need. It keeps you busy so you don’t have to feel what is really present.
Pausing when you feel pressure allows space and connection to feel into the next step.
If pausing doesn’t feel available for you, I invite you to get curious and ask “What purpose does pressure, force or urgency play in your life?
