A Show in a Book for @LOEWE Fall Winter 2021 consists of an original 200-page hardbound volume devoted to the graphic works of artist and writer Joe Brainard (1942-1994). This publication gathers rarely seen artworks, comics, printed matter and ephemera Brainard created during the 1960s and 70s, with a preface by his close friend, the poet Ron Padgett, and an essay by art critic Éric Troncy. The book is housed in a giant fold-out cloth dust jacket reproducing Brainard’s 'Untitled (Bow)', a colorful collage from 1967. In the folds of the dust jacket, two sewn booklets printed on tracing paper present the Fall Winter 2021 men’s runway collection and women’s precollection. The publication will be distributed by Printed Matter as a stand-alone volume when the collections are commercially available in June 2021, with all proceeds going to Printed Matter and Visual AIDS. A monogrammed bookstrap holds the book together with A Show on a Shirt—a cardboard box containing an oversize T-shirt featuring the Eye/LOEWE/ Nature Fall Winter 2021 collection, worn by the actors @StephaneBak and @OmarAyuso.
