We’re aware that a large number of bikers from across the UK are planning to attend Longford in Coventry tomorrow (Sunday 21 August).
It’s following the sad news of Luke Cleary, a motorcyclist who died earlier this week. We know many are wishing to pay their respects to Luke, however we’d ask you to think carefully before attending and thank you for understanding our warning as we do not want to see anyone else injured or worse on our roads.
Ride-outs put lives at risk. Riders risk serious injury to themselves and other members of the public and are also a nuisance to residents.
While we fully understand the strength of feeling around Luke’s untimely and tragic death, there is no justification for this type of behaviour.
Our traffic officers will be out and about in force tomorrow on the lookout for offenders and responding to calls from members of the public.
We will using be powers to prosecute offenders and seize vehicles if necessary. We will also be reviewing CCTV to take retrospective action.
Anyone wanting to report anti-social behaviour on our roads can contact us via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, call 101 anytime or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
