Congratulations to Aya and Samir, Camden’s new Youth MPs! 👏 After a two-week election process, Aya Elgool and Samir Qurashi have been chosen to be our new Youth MPs and Rebecca Stamp and Hdayet Otaky were elected as their deputies. The results were announced by the @mayorofcamden and the previous Youth MPs at our offices at 5 Pancras Square earlier this week. Samir said: “Thank you to everyone who voted for me, supported me and promoted my campaign to be Camden Youth MP. I look forward to working with Camden Council, and young people themselves, to implement the strategies outlined in my manifesto.” Aya said: “Thank you to the people who supported me, including Camden Youth Council, my friends and family. I promise to do my best to work hard for the youth of Camden.” The newly-elected Youth MPs and Deputy Youth MPs will attend the UK Youth Parliament national meeting to decide on future campaigns, meet senior Council officers, councillors, and other local decision-makers and visit schools and youth clubs across Camden.
