Amrita Bhagwandin was working from home in New York City in the United States, when Hurricane Ida hit in August 2021. “We live on the corner of an intersection, and the water filled each side and went four directions," she says. "I found out that the mother and her son living next door to me had both drowned and died in the basement. I don’t have the words to tell you the pain that this neighbourhood has gone through since." The climate crisis affects every country on every continent; and the number of weather extremes - such as floods, heatwaves & wildfires - are becoming more frequent and severe amid the climate crisis. A new study from the #UnitedNations University showcases that these climate hazards share root causes and can be prevented from becoming life-threatening disasters through #ClimateAction solutions.
