Photos by @babaktafreshi | It’s a remote wonderland deep in the Sahara. The midnight moon was about to set, and the galaxy was rising above magnificent sandstone cliffs in Tassili n’Ajjer National Park, also home to prehistoric rock art (fourth photo). We were far from the last village after three days driving off-road. The mission was to document dark sky places in Algeria as part of The World at Night project and for the Algiers Observatory. It was late in the season, and the midday temperature was near 55°C (130°F). I was happy to spend most of the outdoor time at night when it was cooling off, though that was also an active time for scorpions and viper snakes! I’d love to return to this truly unique part of the world to explore more. @twanight#sahara#earth#tassilinajjer#tassili
