Biceps Tendinopathy
Biceps tendinopathy describes pain and tenderness in the region of the biceps tendon and it’s so susceptible to overuse injuries, especially in individuals performing repetitive lifting activities.
And biceps tendinopathy is rarely seen in isolation. It coexists with other pathologies of the shoulder, including rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, and imbalances of the dynamic stabilizers of the shoulder.
And for treatment nearly all cases can be treated conservatively, with the use of analgesia (specifically NSAIDs, if tolerated) and ice therapy as first line. Physiotherapy also plays an important role.
The most important thing you can do for biceps tendonitis is to take it easy, doing simple exercises and stretches for the biceps, rotator cuff, and serratus anterior as they play an important role stabilizing the shoulders which will help with the biceps tendon pain.
And here are some of the exercises I like to use with biceps tendon rehab. Start with the ones that you find to be the easiest and most comfortable. And as you progress, you may be able to add the others.
1Biceps Stretch.
2Resisted Supination.
3Eccentric Elbow Flexion.
4Shoulder External Rotation.
5Wall Slides.
