#OnThisDay in 1936, Buddy Holly was born in Lubbock, Texas.
Buddy lived just 22 years, but influenced many of the biggest rock and roll stars over the years, including Elvis, The Beatles and even Weezer who released a hit song named after him on what would have been his 58th birthday in 1994.
Buddy was killed in a plane crash along with Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper on February 3, 1959. The crash was caused by inclement weather and an inexperienced 21-year-old pilot who was not qualified to fly in low visibility.
Don McLean's 1972 classic "American Pie" is all about that fateful plane crash. Contrary to its lyrics, "the day the music died", Buddy's music is still alive and still kicks.
Hope you're rockin' in Paradise, Buddy!

I posted something similar to this as a reel the other day, (my first ever reel! 😄😂) because apparently ‘All New Instagram’ prefers reels over old fashioned photos. I expected the likes and comments to flood in, with loads of new followers too 😌.. so imagine my amazement when it received less engagement than anything I’ve posted since 2016 🤦🏻♂️🤣 Instagram you are becoming an absolute Turd my friend 💩
So anyhow, here’s another version of the post, just as a standard photo post for all those who missed it, explaining why I’ve been a bit absent lately🙄
I know I haven’t posted in a while, not had many drawing requests the last few months😕, but hopefully I’ll be busy with drawings and posting again soon! 🙋🏻♂️😁
Thanks to those of you who have messaged me to check in with me and ask if I’m ok 💜😊
I plan to post all the work I’ve been lucky to draw in this quiet period soon, and get back to drawing regularly from September on the run up to Christmas which is usually my busiest time.
Thanks again to all my friends and followers here who support my art and my little account, I hope you’re all enjoying your art and doing well!
Watch this space and I’ll be back regularly very soon! In the meantime I’ll be doing some work in my local community for the Heritage Open Days and enjoying more Coffee and cake! ☕️🍰
