i am so thrilled to announce my new project plains with my dear friend & collaborator @jesswilliamson 🦋 jess & i have been friends for years & fans of each other’s records & i think we’ve always felt a sweet kinship. she grew up in texas, me in alabama, individually we landed somewhere in indie rock but both grew up on classic country music as well as 90s country radio. we heard the nuance of that in each other’s songs & it brought us together to make an album i’m extremely proud of & excited to share. “i walked with you a ways” - the debut album from plains comes out on @antirecords 10/14/22 🦋 today we’re sharing the first single “problem with it” along with a video we shot in marfa, directed & produced by corbett jones (@sea__bones ) & nick simonite (@nicksimonite ) 🦋 so many cool people helped us bring this to life & they’re all tagged here. very grateful & more soon 🦋 . album cover shot by @mollymatalon layout by @mikekrol everything styled by @ememke cinematography by @r_carmody_ color by paulvgalati

today kevin & i are announcing a couple songs for a great cause that hits close to home. with the overturning of roe v. wade, the state of kansas, where we live, has become an important haven for bordering states in the fight for reproductive healthcare. there’s a proposed amendment to the state constitution in the upcoming election that would put access to safe & legal abortion at risk. we’re asking kansas folks to vote no to this amendment in the 8/2 election & we’re supporting @votenokansas , an amazing local organization raising awareness about this issue. we record covers on a 4 track at home from time to time, so today we’re releasing 2 of those on bandcamp. it’s a sliding scale starting at $5 & all funds raised will go directly to vote no kansas. tonight at 7 pm cst we’ll do a weekly rodeo on IG live featuring @allisoncrutchfield & @mikekrol to direct folks to that bandcamp & play some songs. join in if you’re free, buy the tracks if you can & kansans please VOTE NO on 8/2 ♥️ links in bio, photo by @barrettemke
