Caught Uranus for the first time, thanks to Mars.
.
Uranus is the seventh and the third largest planet in our solar system. It is the first planet discovered with the help of a telescope in 1781, by the great astronomer and scientist Sir William Herschel.
.
Since Uranus is very far away and less bright it was not known by our ancestors. The distance of Uranus from earth is almost double than that of Saturn. At the time of capturing it was almost 3 billion km from us, while Saturn was 1.3 billion km. Also it revolves around the sun at a slow rate and takes 84 years to complete one revolution.
.
Finding Uranus is almost impossible from unaided eyes. Although I have a telescope, mine have manual operations. So to figure out where the planet is a tough task especially in this heavy light polluted city.
Thanks to its conjunction with Mars gives me an idea of where to find it accurately.
.
Also at first it's still hard to differentiate between this and the stars. But it's unique Aqua Blue color and with reference to nearby stars, I finally got it.
.
It's a kind of thrilling experience to see that much far in our own solar system. It's unique color is due to the presence of methane, ammonia and water ice.
.
It was amazing to Uranus for the first time thanks to Mars. I hope I'll get more of it and also try to hunt for Neptune too.
.
Wish me luck. Happy Sky watching to you.
