⚠️ OMG! I ran 10 MILES today - the furthest I’ve ran in 4 months!! 🤩 I was only going to run 90 mins. But when I realized I hit 8 miles, I became determined to get to 10. Even if I hit that wall. Even if I had to walk. I wasn’t going to go home until I did! And somehow through the crazy mental and physical process that happened for nearly 2 hours… I did it. I ran 10 freakin’ miles!!!
•
Then tears💧Tears everywhere. All over me. And all over my husband’s shirt when I got home. Those fucking tears of joy when you accomplish something HARD because you’re crazy enough to want to, and it makes you feel THAT much better and stronger as a human. And still tears while writing this post. 💙

Overcoming the thoughts that fester while running is so damn hard 😓 And I always forget they show up everytime I run longer than one hour. I kept repeating the saaaame things in my head over and over again 👉🏼 Swipe to see I what I mean lol.
•
Then you get to this mental point where you’re like… “I’m HERE and I’m finishing this! Finishing this suffering! Because afterwards I’ll be all happy I did it!” 🎉 Like all crazy runners that endure pain because they are on Cloud 9 after a challenging run!! And I’m so happy I did.

This run is one of the many training runs I need to get to the starting line of the Portland Half Marathon on October 2nd. I hadn’t announced my race, because I’ve been terrified I won’t be able to do it (while nursing a mild hamstring issue). But hopefully after today’s accomplishment and with continued physical therapy, I can get there. Because I’ve wanted to do it for so long. I don’t even care for a PR. I just want to do it. So we will see how the next 3 weeks fair out.

Wish me luck ❤️ And thank you as always for being here and believing in me. 🙏🏻
When is the summer heat ending!? 😂 I really shouldn’t be complaining knowing the return of 8 months of rain in the PNW is just around the corner. But with days peaking as high as 98 degrees, even early morning runs are still Incredibly challenging. But hey, I showed up today.

4X1 Mile repeats towards my continued half marathon training in what already felt hotter than 71 degrees. I underestimate how hard 1 mile segments can be when you’re on a track and focusing on steady but strong speed.
•
“Am I going too fast!?” …“Should I slow down?” …“Am I gonna make it through?” …”Is my form ok?” 🤔 These are all valid thoughts that pass through my brain while I’m running. It’s not like I “truly” know what I’m doing, but running is constantly a learning experience and that pushes me through. So thank you legs and lungs for making it as they could, and to my mind for getting me to the track in the first place. 🙏🏻

Also I just I’m really loving the new nitrogen-infused Glycerin 20’s by @brooksrunning 🙌🏼 I love my other pair so much I decided to buy another pair in blue. 💙 I still can’t get over how softly cushioned they are and how super light they feel on my feet. Have you given the new Glycerin’s a try?

Today is a special day in the Frenchipino household! 🙌🏼 Both my kids are finally back in school, and for the first time ever - BOTH in elementary school! No more preschool tuition, daycare bills, and more flexibility to handle the demands of parenthood and life lol! 🤩
•
Once the kiddos got on the bus, I headed off for a little recovery run. No mileage goal in mind, no set pace, just take off and go! 🏃🏽♀️ I didn’t even plot out my route so once I had a loop in mind, I didn’t know how long it would take me to get back to my car! 😂
•
After a few unexpected hills, dodging cars in random neighborhoods, I finished with 4 happy miles. Definitely felt the summer’s lack of consistency in my lungs today, but September will bring me the opportunity to really REALLY get back on a proper schedule now that my kids are going to be in school full time! Both of them. Full time. Yes. It’s happening. Omg, I’m so happy! 🤣

To all the mother runners, we did mamas! We made it through summer!!! 🔥 Our kids are going back to school and we can run without screaming or nagging again, or rushing home because Daddy’s on Zoom and they always jump on his call! 😂
•
Now it’s off to brunch and my annual “Back to School Mimosa” 🥂 🤣 Holla!! 🙌🏼 Happy Monday!
