I worked as camera operator on a 30m film for @samcrook_dop , for which he just won Best Cinematographer at the NY Cinematography Awards 2020! 👏✨ The film, Porcelain, directed by Tim Wildgoose and starring Sir Lenny Henry is a live action adaptation of a graphic novel by the same name. It was a really, really great project to work on. Met lots of super talented people who I’ve collaborated with loads since. I learnt a lot; Sam is a brilliant DOP to work under and it was a pleasure to collaborate and help him realise the film visually. Killer work by all the camera team and inspired gaffer @jamesduffy.gaffer :) 🎥✨ . new film for @c4randomacts, Everything Feels Like Water is out today! go check it out on my website in my bio :) based on a poem by Theresa Lola and directed by Jolade Olusanya, the film follows a young woman in search of a superpower against her anxiety. . shot in an afternoon on fs7 and vintage nikons with a minimal (but brilliant) run and gun crew, i wanted to try to make the apartment feel cold, isolated and in stark contrast to the high key park exteriors, to put across visually the difficulty of the experience taking place. whilst in the park, all the photography is centred around our lead, using slow motion and shallow DoF to pick her out and further isolate her from the her surroundings and companions in the story. a visceral poem that has a strong message. i hope i did the visual compliment to it justice. it felt good to shoot a film on an important topic that should be discussed more; it’s something i’d like to do more of. respect to the all of the directors, writers and filmmakers who are making films about these things now. 👊 some teaser clips at the end and a fun lil cooked up on-the-day practical fx comp for some indoor rain! ☔️ full film in my bio ✨ written by Theresa Lola / @theresa_lola Directed by @JoladeO_ Cinematographer – @orlandoomahoney Produced by – @blakes_daddy / @frmwrkldn Gaffer – @christopher_longdop Original Music by @kentekwame Sound Engineer - @LexAmor_ Production company credit: @rxninco

some stills from a lil behind the scenes film I made for a @friend_london video awhile back. directed by Matilda Finn for Bipolar Sunshine. go seek it out, v. cool. . shot on my trusty Nikkor AI-s prime set (the 105mm was my mum’s from the 70’s!), i played around with a bunch of on lens diffusion and diffraction, which included an ornate whisky tumbler and a cool jewellers loupe that was a prop on another project. fun stuff. in combination with underexposed, overcranked, roaming camerawork, i searched for natural vignettes in the composition and big, diagonal flares to cross the frame. shutter angle tweak’d down just enough to make the practicals flicker, and we’re cookin’ 🎥✨ felt like the right thing to do. it’d be cool to do longer form bts, with interviews from crew in different departments. you don’t see much of that kind of thing, but i like it when i do see it. . can’t take credit for how ethereal and cinematic the set itself looked of course, props to the dop and gaffer there 🙌 . the bts piece itself is on my website on my bio if you want to check it out :)
