I decided to join the party and read Cassandra at the Wedding this month. First published in 1962, the novel follows Cassandra, a queer Berkeley grad student intent on sabotaging her twin sister’s wedding. The book was recently rereleased and rediscovered, and I am among its ardent fans. Hope you love it as much as I do. #JuneBookPick@natsbookclub
I love the way Joy Harjo’s Poet Warrior blends poetry and memoir. As the first Native American Poet Laureate, Harjo writes about the significance of our ancestors’ stories, and the inspiring ways art and justice can intertwine. I hope you’ll join me in reading this month! #MayBookPick@natsbookclub
Last night was magic. To the players of @weareangelcity: your tenacity and creativity and passion brought us the most joyful experience. To the fans: your energy and voices kept the beat of our hearts thrumming together as a community. To the heroes who paved the way who we are now honored to have among our owners group — the 14 former USWNT players, including @abbywambach whose speech inspired this whole thing — you cleared the path so we could run. @alexisohanian — you are the real deal male ally, putting your money into making a better world for all of us. To our leaders — @juhrman, Kara Nortman, Eni Aluko, and our coach @freyacoombe — you are extraordinary and your tireless work brought us the dream first game. Thank yooooou! LFG!
A friend recommended this book and I can’t wait to read! @juliamaynot’s Vladimir follows a married literature professor who becomes obsessed with an experimental writer. #AprilBookPick@natsbookclub
