Through mass mobilisation and community resistance, together we can fight against the UK government’s racist and draconian immigration policies ✊🏽
The government has long expressed its resentment towards refugees through decades of hostile immigration policies, made even worse by the Nationality and Borders Bill introduced in July this year. But we can resist these through protest, as demonstrated by the successful prevention of the Tories’ recent attempted refugee deportation flight to Rwanda.
In the latest gal-dem guide, Nadia Hasan and Zehrah Hasan from the @jcwi_uk explain what deportation flights are and how they can be stopped, as well as spotlighting some of the campaign groups you can join and support. Brittney has been wrongfully detained in Russia for months, following her arrest for cannabis possession at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport in February, after police allegedly found two vape cartridges of hashish oil in her luggage. Then, last month, she was sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison.

With costs soaring and no sufficient support provided by the government, many people across the UK are turning to illegal money lending in order to make ends meet and are being forced into extremely dangerous situations.
As @shahedezaydi reports, lenders have been known to use duping tactics to lure in vulnerable parents and in her investigation Shahed speaks to one mother who was victim to this technique, as well as another who is not entitled to any government support due to her immigration status.
