From the 15th century onwards, a popular tradition associated madness with a stone lodged in the brain.
In “The Extraction of the Stone of Madness“ by the Dutch artist #HieronymusBosch, a man is trepanned by a surgeon whose upside-down funnel hat marks him as charlatan. The image is inscribed with a reference to this folk belief, but the object being extracted from the patient’s brain is not, however, a stone, but rather a lily bulb.

What Hollywood gets wrong about race and ethnicity?
Starting from the assumption that lack of diversity in cast lists is one of the deepest-rooted problems in the film industry, the two photographers Haruka Sakaguchi and Griselda San Martin asked a group of actors what their ideal role would be.
"Typecast Project" compares the stereotypical characters they are usually asked to play and their ideal roles, creating the equivalent of a satire of the entertainment industry.
The show #RolePlay on view at #Osservatorio#FondazionePrada has been extended until 26 September

"Mirrors are here so that people can’t avoid themselves throughout looking at the show: you’re reflected with the work, you’re looking at yourself, maybe you’re taking a selfie…"

According to curator #MelissaHarris, the show #RolePlay is a “an imaginary situation where characters are taking on whatever forms they wish and looking at us and they’re making us question who are they really, which makes us question what are we seeing"

Our bodies are no longer the main agents of our existence.
According to @elmgreenanddragsetstudio “Especially within the workplace, in this time of threatening pandemics, we are physically being excluded from a large part of the reality that surrounds us“
#GardenOfEden is an abandoned working space that recalls the geometric structures of Minimal sculpture. There, visitors can encounter tiny signs of workers private lives— like personal notes or coffee cups—as in a dystopian movie sets.

For the exhibition "Useless Bodies?" the 2° floor of the Podium is transformed into a vast, abandoned office landscape.
Rows of identical, cubical desks fill the entire space, silently revealing the changing role of the body in relation to work.
The installation “Garden of Eden“ was conceived by @elmgreenanddragsetstudio well before the recent Covid-related lockdowns, but can also be read as a monument to a time of workplace community, before “home office” became the norm.
