One of Mexico's most prominent openly gay actors, Polo Morín is gearing up for global stardom with a role in the big-screen adaptation of Red, White & Royal Blue - the hit LGBTQ novel charting the secret romance between a British Prince and the son of the US President.
Polo was outed in 2016, when a hacker released images of him and his then boyfriend on holiday in the form of a Facebook post that seemed to be written by Polo.
“I was not ready, because I was really scared that I would never work again in Mexico.”
After an initial loss of over 100,000 followers on social media, Polo’s career bounced back and he is now one of the most successful actors in Mexico.
We spoke with Polo on all things #RedWhiteAndRoyalBlue, revenge porn, his coming out experience, and what it’s like to live as openly gay in Latin America.
