Shout out to my boy @ntte_hats for making handcrafted, one of a kind pieces of art. I’ve never been one to buy anything off the rack. His hats are 100% custom and unique to you and your style. Thanks brother for your attention to detail, you’re a true artist👌🏻 #nttehats#handcrafted
Wet to dry face frame ✂️
Why do I cut wet first?
💡The wet cut builds balance and the foundation of the haircut. For me, it’s the blueprint or rough draft of the haircut.
Why dry cut?
💡One the basic shape is put in, the dry portion is where I do all my blending and softening. Dry hair tells you everything you need to know about weight, movement and balance.

Gotta talk about this dude for a minute. You’ve seen me post a lot on my stories about Matt. Matt truly is the brother I never had. Before BTC introduced us I always wanted a friend in the industry that I could share stories with. Stories about hair, family, travel, business, food… just normal guy shit. To call this guy a friend is an understatement. The number of face time and phone calls discussing everything under the sun is what I was always missing in this career. Matt and I travel a lot both teaching and for the brands we work with but the main reason we do it is out of friendship. Our next class is June 12th in Raleigh, NC if you want to come check us out. Thanks Matt for your friendship and see you soon, brother🤘🏻
Take time for clean lines 🙂
Even when I’m pressed for time I never rush the perimeter of a haircut. Taking your time on wet hair means less cleaning up when it’s dry.
Also, the more precise the line the longer the haircut will last.
Take your time, do it right and your clients will love you for it 🙂

Barely there wave 💫
The quickest and easiest way to achieve that slight wave is to combine a subtle flat iron wave with a few curls with a curling iron.
After curling, flip you head over and rake those curls out. Yes you’re going to loose half the curl but that’s the point! You’re going for a natural, second day look!
Finish with Texturizing Spray from @virtuelabs for added volume and texture 👌🏻
Client tip 💡
Practice these curls with your curling iron turned OFF! Get the hang of the motion before using heat🙂

Classic with a twist 🍭
By nature the bob is a very heavy haircut. Removing the right amount of weight in the right places will add movement and give the haircut a more flattering shape.
Tip 💡Keep your texturizing on the ends (inch and a half or so). This will prevent the haircut from feeling too thin but will allow the haircut to move and adds volume.

The faded blue jeans haircut 😍
For this look I wanted something that moved when the wind blew. The entire haircut was done on dry hair which allows me to see the movement and texture as it’s being created.
After it was curled I wanted a product I could scrunch in the hair rather than raking out the curls. Scrunching is going to soften the definition of the curls while maintaining lightness and volume in the hair.
6 in 1 Styling Paste from @virtuelabs adds definition and shine WITHOUT weighing the hair down. I love this product because it adds separation while adding a soft texture. You can tap the link in my bio to explore more about Virtue!

De-bulking 💇🏼♀️ step by step below👇🏼
Are your haircuts bottom heavy? Simple technique to remove bulk while adding subtle graduation without looking “stacked”
Step 1) section off the back from the occipital to just behind the ears. This is the area we want graduation and where most clients complain about having too much weight or bulk.
Step 2) start in the center, pull hair out and down roughly 45 degrees. Use a texturizing shear starting no more than 2 inches from the ends, opening and closing 2-3 times until you reach the ends.
Step 3) take section 2 at the same elevation over-directing towards the center and repeat the previous step. Continue each section over-directing to the center until you run out of hair.
This technique will simulate a graduated bob, building a more modern shape that hugs the neck and removes unwanted weight in the back. 🙂

Texturizing a shape rather than just thinning out the hair ✂️
Back - removing weight while building subtle graduation. This will give a slight undercut while removing the bell shape.
Perimeter - sketching in the line gives me control so I can see the shape as it’s happening. No surprises.
This haircut look great straight and looks completely different when curled!

Stage Bob 🕺🏼
This was the cut I did at the @btc_ontour event this weekend in Dallas! The event was held at the House of Blues which is so cool to think about how many rock stars have stood on the same stage🙏🏼
I have so much respect for everyone who attended this event. Over 700 hairdressers came to expand their knowledge, make friends and share a space with like-minded people. My hat goes off to those who invest in themselves and OUR industry!
Huge thank you to @marybehindthechair , @behindthechair_com and @arcscissors for allowing me to share my knowledge on your stage! Forever grateful!❤️
Also a huge thank you to @mattyconrad and @thereggiemarcel for a segment I’ll always remember 👊🏻

Crispy line and soft textured interior ✂️
If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a million times, to get a proper line you must avoid 3 things, tension, elevation and over direction. These simple adjustments will help you avoid unwanted graduation. Build in graduation later if you want but choose where you want it and how you get it.

The more you know💡 By far the most common question I get is “ what’s the difference between a textured bob and a layered bob” well here’s a visual. Both are great! (on the right person) Textured bobs have a more subtle shape and less maintenance at home. Layered bobs look amazing on the right hair type but require more styling unless you have some natural texture or wave. Hope this helps🙂 #hair#haircut#hairinspo#texturedbob#layeredbob#arcscissors#withvirtuelabs#btconeshot22_educationalpost
