It’s Official! #Astronomers capture the very first image of our own supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way! — It’s nice to finally meet you Sagittarius A* 🤩
That’s our BH fam! OURS! * — 25,000 light years away, our baby has the mass of about 4 million suns. Not the biggest but the cutest, most def.

Congrats @esoastronomy 👏

The only home we’ve ever known, suspended in a sunbeam, viewed from 4 billion miles / 6.44 billion km through the eyes of a spacecraft built by us.

Taken 3 days ago, but in 1990 😂 , this iconic image of the 3rd rock from one star out of 200 billion stars, located 25,000 light away from the center of its galactic island, means the world to us. It’s our responsibility to expand outward, leave the cradle, and showcase our collective strengths to the universe while leaving the tribal weaknesses that separate us from one another, behind.
After all … “We are a way for the cosmos to know itself” CS
Act like it.
