Snow leopards have evolved to be living in these high elevation cold deserts, and every part of their body shows signs of these unique adaptations. Their pink/black nose has its own story. Large nostrils and broad nasal cavities of the Snow Leopards make it easier to inhale large amounts of oxygen-poor, thin mountain air. Snow Leopards nasal cavities house particularly large and thick mazes of bone and tissue called turbinates. A snow leopard inhales freezing air into the turbinates, and it gets heated as it mixes with the warm air exiting from the lungs. Now that's some incredible life hack that evolution has provided to these big cats.
