✨2021: NIKE PLANT CORK PACK✨
Continuing with ‘MOVE TO ZERO’, nike’s sustainability initiative, recently resurfaced are the images of the upcoming Air Force 1 that pays homage to ‘ True Indigo’, scientifically known as indigofera tinctoria.
This flora and fruit-inspired pack consists of some of the brand’s iconic silhouettes of all time:
• Air Force 1’s,
• Blazer Mid 77 and
• The Daybreak Type.
The iterations feature an embroidery of a plant such as the Indigo on the tongue of the shoe which has been used to dye the swoosh and backtab of the shoe. In addition to that some scientific details such as ‘Part of Use’ and the ‘Habitat’ about the plant is stamped on the heel tab.
Taking sustainability to the next level, the canvas upper used in this pack is 100% recycled and the outsoles use nine percent repurposed cork sourced from the wine industry. Cork is also used as lace dubrae and the tongue tag. Each pair is crafted using roughly 20 percent recycled materials.
“ I drew all of the graphics across the men’s women’s and airmax models and loved the way the embroidery turned out. We’re also using Cork which has one of the lowest impact scores of any material in apparel or footwear. “ - Jessica Washick (REPOST)
