✨2021: YARA SHAHIDI X ADIDAS ORIGINALS ✨ Yara Shahidi, joins the long list of female creatives that the three stripes have associated so far. The 21-year-old American actress, model, and activist - has been an advocate for women of color in America and beyond; managing her own production company, 7th Sun, with her mother; while attending Harvard University; teamed with Adidas Originals for her very own five-piece collection that celebrates her Black and Iranian roots. The pack featured a pair of classic Superstar sneakers, two jackets and coordinating track pants - all featuring elaborate detailing such as embroidered Farsi script. Shahidi was part of the ‘Team Superstar 2020’ campaignby Originals in which they featured many creatives, sportsmen, artists etc to celebrate 50 years of Superstar. And one year later BAM she has a superstar to her name! "My first instinct was how do we honor the past in a way that also pays homage to the future," Shahidi as spoken to BAZAAR.com. “Whether it be the old-school varsity track jacket that has some Farsi on it or even my Superstar sneaker, which has the writing that goes right to left, even though it's in English, which is the way [a lot] of the world reads," she says. After the debut collaboration in May, there’s already a next collab in the pipeline that Yara and Adidas are working on that features an adidas Originals Campus sneaker and a Boston Super X Marathon, which we are very excited about!
