’s refreshingly human "Iwantja Rock n Roll," an exhibition featuring paintings by Vincent Namatjira, Kaylene Whiskey, and Tiger Yaltangki, explores the multi-generational trio of Aboriginal image makers' take on the symbolic authority of empire. The exhibition’s title refers to the Iwantja Arts Community, an Indigenous art center in Indulkana, Australia that for the past 40 years has nurtured the work of Aboriginal artists. Fort Gansevoort’s presentation represents the group’s first exhibition in New York. At the link in our bio, read our review before you head to the gallery.
