Brazilian gallery @mendeswooddm has opened a new space in New York bringing the spirit of São Paulo to Tribeca. Currently on display is @mpatricialeite's "Praia do Poço 2 (Poço Beach 2)," 2022, seen here. The work is part of Leite's solo show "Mantiqueira," on view at the gallery until August 12. "Mantiqueira," meaning "mountains that cry" in the indigenous Tupi language, is a mountain range that creates the border between Leite's home state of Minas Gerais and the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
