Having dolphins swim towards you, play with you and look at you in the eye is an indescribable feeling of awe. Having experienced this, and knowing dolphins are sentient beings with complex relationships, it breaks my heart to watch them being slaughtered and the government responsible doing nothing about it (scroll to second picture).
But we CAN do something about it! We can add a ton o social pressure to the Faore Islands goverment so hopefully this kind of hunts stop happening.
Last September, 1428 White Sided Dolphins were killed in Faroe Islands. Once the pod was taken to shore, the dolphins were cut and then left suffocating into their painful and slow death. This hunt included pregnant females and claves. The Faroe Islands are known for their annual pilot whale hunt, a tradition called the Grindadráp. This happens every year!
Please sign the petition (link in bio) and ask the Faroese Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen to take a firm regulatory stance against the slaughter of dolphins in the Faroe Islands
and hopefully we can help end it! @onlyone@sealegacy@mitty@paulnicklen
