Over the past 10 days I’ve been visiting an encampment that sprung up in Charlotte. As shelters have limited capacity due to the pandemic, scores of tents have popped up and filled with homeless neighbors in walking distance of the city center. For a lot of residents, it’s the first time this homelessness issue has been so visible. I first stopped there as part of a larger COVID-19 story for @nytimes, and went back many more times with a wonderful writer and friend, @michaelngraff who is working for @charlotteagenda
Eventually I decided to set up a tripod and make long exposure portraits to obscure the identities of some of the folks I met who are in a vulnerable spot. These are a few of those people and pictures.
The story is really wonderfully written, and the link is in the bio.
