On the hottest day of the year so far we headed to the magical cliffs of Clogwyn Du’r Arddu where shade and almost ideal climbing conditions were found.
We started with the hard rock classic Vember. An amazing three pitch route each with its own distinct difficulties. The route is brilliant and even more impressive when your realise the first ascent was made by Joe Brown and Don Whillans in 1951. Ledgend has it that joe fell on the crux days before the first ascent cutting two strands of his hemp rope in the process.
After topping out Vember we headed down drank 7litres of water and Adam led us up Pedestal Crack and impressive lead and another fantastic route. After topping we headed back down for some food and well earned beers!
•walking into Cloggy with the cliffs just entering the shade
•me on P1 (the drainpipe) of Vember quite bold and about as dry as it ever will be
•Ben bridging out on the crux of Vember
•Adam on the top pitch of Vember
