There are tons of things you think you have to do as a web designer, but here’s the thing… it’s not true. Here’s what you actually have to do.
Offer branding in order to be a successful web designer → Plot twist, look at me, I don’t! Offer web design only if that’s what sets your heart on fire.
Make all your clients pay in full or do 50/50 payments → I’ve never done this as a designer. I’ve always offered payment plans starting at around $500ish/month for my clients, and it’s been one of the things that our clients LOVE.
Sell your soul and lower your prices → HAHAHA no. You should charge what you are comfortable with charging. I’m not into the whole “charge your worth” thing - I don’t think your worth should be tied to a monetary number. But, you shouldn’t lower your prices just to get a client. You can, however, create a package to fit a client’s budget if you really want to work with them.
Be everywhere all at once. → I’m literally only on Instagram and occasionally on TikTok, just for fun. You don’t have to be everywhere. Get real good at showing up at one place then branch out elsewhere if you want.
Offer VIP days to hit your income goals → I only offer them because I like working in a VIP format every once in a while. My biggest service seller is actually my custom web design, so VIP days is not the only way to hit your income goals, whatever they may be. (We don’t all need $10k months to feel successful - that’s for sure.)
